Before You Apply

Our member vision

100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina mentors young people across Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties. Our programs serve students in grades 6 through 12, girls and boys both, and stay with them as they move toward college and career.

Members are Black men who show up. Not once. Regularly, for years, for young people who are counting on it. Read what it takes to become a member before you fill anything out. If it fits, we want to hear from you. If the timing is wrong, that is an honest answer too.

Application Fee and Annual Membership Dues

Application Fee

Submit your membership application with a $50 non-refundable application fee. Submitting an application and paying this fee does not guarantee acceptance. Membership remains subject to the chapter’s approval process.

Annual Membership Dues

Annual membership dues are $250, exclusive of the $50 application fee. This means the application fee is paid separately and is not applied toward annual dues.
If accepted for membership, you must pay the $250 annual dues within 30 days of membership notification.

The application fee and initial annual dues total $300, paid in two stages: $50 with the application and $250 following membership approval and notification.

How to Become a Member

Give up to four hours a month. Help a young person see what’s possible.

Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee with your full membership application. Use the chapter’s PayPal or Zelle details on our Donate page and add “Application fee” in the payment note, where available.

Phase 01

Begin your enrollment

This is the first step and it takes about three minutes. There is no fee at this stage. If it looks like a fit, the Membership Committee will invite you to a member-interest meeting, and the full Membership Application and Background Screening Packet comes after that.

Sponsoring member, if you have one. A current financial member of the Chapter must sponsor your application. Leave this blank if you do not know a member yet and we will invite you to a member-interest meeting.

Why do you want to join, and what service have you given through professional, civic, community, faith, educational, military, entrepreneurial, or volunteer work?

Answer the next question truthfully. A Yes answer does not automatically determine the outcome of an application. The Chapter may ask for more information when it is reasonably related to youth safety, member conduct, or Chapter representation.

Have you ever been removed, suspended, restricted, or asked to resign from a paid or volunteer position involving youth, vulnerable persons, education, coaching, mentoring, ministry, healthcare, or community service? If yes, give a brief explanation or say that details will be provided securely. If no, write No.

I am at least 21 years of age. $50 non-refundable application fee, plus $250 annual membership dues if accepted. The application fee is separate and is not credited toward dues. Annual dues are payable within 30 days of membership notification.

I understand that a current financial member must sponsor my application, and that membership requires a member-interest meeting, an interview, background screening, service on at least one committee, attendance at half or more of the monthly membership meetings, and required youth-safety training.
