100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina raising funds to send teens to college

The 100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina Chapter will hold its 2nd Annual Awards Recognition and Fundraiser this Saturday at Wrightsville Beach. The concept of “The 100” began in 1963 in New York City when a group of concerned African American men began to meet to explore ways to improve conditions within their community. “The organization was founded with the principles of mentorship, economic empowerment and health/wellness,” said Yusef Abdur-Razzaaq, a member of the 100 Black men of Coastal North Carolina Chapter.

 2019 Razor Walker Award

Our very own, President Dr. Jerry L. Jackson is a recipient of the 2019 Razor Walker Award for Educational Leadership Dr. Jerry Jackson has enhanced the lives of thousands of young people over the course of his career. With vision, the strength of leadership, and dedication to nurturing future possibilities, he continues to “walk the razor’s edge” in service to underserved youth in the greater Wilmington community.

Mentors talk to youth in Coastal North Carolina Success Academy

A group of students involved with the Coastal North Carolina Success Academy was able to listen to a group of speakers Saturday morning at Cape Fear Community College. These students heard from two guest speakers including WWAY’s own Amanda Fitzpatrick, who shared advice and tips on how to be successful in the future. The organization is through the 100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina, who help mentor the youth in Cape Fear.
